Introduction
This lecture has been accredited by both the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) purposes and can be purchased for ZAR 500
What will I gain by watching this lecture?
(South African Health and Allied Health Professionals)
Health Professionals and Allied Health Professionals in South Africa will be given 1.5 CEU’s (Continuing Education Unit) for watching this lecture.
What will I gain if I am not registered with either of these Councils, and/or I do not reside in South Africa? Lecture 2 will address:
- Anyone with an interest in the benefits of using MLD for specific purposes, for example
- Pre-operative MLD
- Post-operative MLD
- How MLD can help with dermatological conditions
- How MLD can help with breast problems ( mainly cosmetic)
- What role MLD plays in supporting gut health
- How to use MLD to alleviate some of the discomforts of pregnancy
- How to use MLD therapeutically to optimise the functioning of body parts not discussed above
- Viewers that have problems with the functioning of their lymphatic system, or know somebody who has these problems
- Viewers about to have surgery – both the pre-operative and post-operative periods are discussed
- Viewers who have had surgery
- Viewers who have been in accidents/have particular medical conditions which can be aided by MLD
- Viewers who have problems with relaxation and insomnia, and/or chronic pain
- Viewers that have a compromised lymphatic system, either anatomically (ie in its structure) or physiologically (ie in its functioning), which often manifests as swelling (oedema)
- Viewers who have family members/friends/someone for whom they care, who has a problem with their lymphatic system
- Viewers who have a general interest in the human body (lay people or health professionals), and who want to understand how the lymphatic system can benefit people with different medical conditions
- Viewers who would be interested to see practical applications of MLD for numerous conditions
- Viewers who would like to learn about the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, which is often not emphasized during training as a health professional
- Viewers who have found that there is a lot of information about MLD and the lymphatic system on the web, but that the source of the information is often unreliable, and the claims made, in terms of what benefits MLD can give one, are often untrue.
- Viewers who are particularly interested in the effects that MLD can have on the lymphatic system-eg how does it help one to heal, how does it help with bruising and swelling?
- Viewers who, for example, are already practising as a health professional in their field of expertise, but are interested in learning more about this system, and possibly are thinking about doing some training in MLD. i.e are broadening their skills.
